Poutama

Poutama represents

  • The steps to reaching one’s potential
  • Learning and evolving, even when challenged

“Ka whangaia, ka tupu ka puawai”
That which is nurtured, blossoms then grows

The Poutama Team is a vibrant whānau of learners dedicated to climbing the "stairway to knowledge" together. As a team, we embrace our responsibility to be positive role models within our school, ensuring that every student feels supported and valued on their educational journey.

Leadership in Action: We don’t wait for titles to lead. Every student in the Poutama Team is encouraged to show leadership by taking initiative, helping others, and owning their personal learning goals.

We know that we are stronger together. Our classroom environment is deeply collaborative, where we brainstorm, problem-solve, and celebrate each other's "aha!" moments.

We believe that school should be a place where curiosity thrives. That’s why we focus on making our projects both engaging and creative. Whether we are exploring a new scientific concept or expressing ourselves through the arts, we use our imaginations to find original solutions and keep the energy high.

We expand our students’ experiences through a wide range of opportunities, including camp, various sports and elite sports programmes, music lessons, the William Pike Challenge, and our own Specialisation programme, which offers activities such as art, sewing, robotics, and cooking, among others.

In the Poutama Team, we aren't just students—we are a community of creative thinkers and collaborative leaders stepping upward, one step at a time.

Poutama has two passionate teachers with different strengths. We have worked together for many years and love getting students excited about learning and out and about in the real world.
